Pleasant Lake, MI (February 24, 2021) Lighthouse Therapy recently announced a change to their online scheduling page that provides students resources to speak with a counselor. Lighthouse Therapy works directly with schools. Since the pandemic, students have begun reaching out to the company personally. This change is a direct response to get the students the help they need.

“Since the pandemic, students have begun reaching out to our company directly,” said Janet L. Courtney, Founder, and CEO of Lighthouse Therapy. “In the past few months, we have seen a rise in requests by students. I work from home, and just this past week, my company phone rang at 3:00 am. I found out later that it was a student looking to speak with a counselor. Their need just broke my heart. They weren’t getting the counseling help they deserve, and I knew something had to change.”

Lighthouse Therapy does not have the staff to be a 24/7 hotline. So effective February 23, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Crisis Text Line, and Trevor Project have stepped up to support these students coming to the Lighthouse Therapy website searching for immediate help. These organizations are now prominently listed on the company’s Schedule a Consultation page. If a student calls Lighthouse Therapy after hours, they are directed to hang up and dial 911 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

Courtney said, “Imagine every student in the United States getting the counseling they need when they need it. The future of our students can and will be bright.”
