Telepractice Partnerships with Autism Services in Education
I have been an SLP for over 24 years and in that time, I have seen many success stories with the use of telepractice, autistic students, and parent support. Research continues to support what I have experienced as a telepractioner.
In the referenced article from a study conducted at Michigan State University, their findings in a pilot study show, “…the online program successfully helped parents of children with autism improve their child’s social communication using research-based intervention techniques.”
With the increase in children diagnosed with ASD, the need for intervention services continues to outpace the availability of therapists. By implementing services via teletherapy, geographical location becomes a non-issue. The student can be thousands of miles away and still receive the services in a format that they are responsive to and increase the amount and frequency of services that are so desperately needed.
At Lighthouse Therapy, we want to partner with schools to do exactly that. Let us help you to meet your district’s needs for speech, occupational and counseling services.
