It's a short film and media campaign designed to bring awareness to Special Education (SPED).
Because SPED in America is underfunded and understaffed.
The film follows Janet, a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) who witnesses a student with a cochlear implant be denied access to the school for the hearing impaired. Worse, it appears that the school district made the decision to save money, not considering what was best for the student. What she witnesses is unjust, but what should Janet do?
Brighter Together follows the journey of Janet, an SLP, trying to make a difference in the world of education. What's surprising are the financial, personal, and professional hurdles that will challenge her faith in God.
We've all watched movies that made us want to do something more. These movies made us want to take action.
After the credits roll, we would like to do two things. First, continue to raise awareness around Special Education. Second, create more opportunities for students to receive the specialized education they need. We plan to accomplish both of these objectives by selling Brighter Together wristbands.
The bracelets function as a visual to spark conversation around Special Education, and the proceeds go towards providing more affordable therapy services in the future.
Please consider purchasing a wristband at the top of this page.
Word of mouth is still the most effective way to spread awareness. No one will know this initiative exists unless people like you are willing to tell their friends and family about it. We hope you will tell them in person, by text, or by email and share it on your social media channels.
We hope to have over 100 people share the film when it launches on 11/18/22. We hope you will be one of those 100 people.
We want to see more students across the U.S. get the special education services they need. The only way this will happen is by coming together as a community. Because we are brighter together.
Lighthouse Therapy LLC ("Lighthouse") is a for profit company and since cash is fungible, the net proceeds of the sale of Brighter Together bracelets will be added to the revenues of Lighthouse. To the extent that revenues received from bracelet sales allow Lighthouse to meet its needs for operating capital, Lighthouse will not have to look to its clients to fund this portion of Lighthouse's operations. One of the challenges Lighthouse faces in meeting its mission to facilitate the delivery of quality therapeutic services to special needs students enrolled at its client's schools is that budgets for the delivery of special educational services are frequently inadequate to offset the cost of such services. Lighthouse can often provide services to its clients at costs that are lower than the costs at which these clients could deliver such services directly to their students with special needs. The reason for this fact is that Lighthouse has attained limited economies of scale in the delivery of therapeutic services, among other things, by: (i) distributing the administrative costs associated with the delivery of such services across a large number of client educational institutions; (ii) sourcing services from lower cost regions and facilitating the delivery of such services on Lighthouse Therapy LLC's proprietary technological backbone; and (iii) streamlining the acquisition of therapeutic devices that are used in conjunction with therapeutic services and repurposing certain devices over time. Yet even with these savings, many of Lighthouse's clients find it difficult to fund all of the therapeutic needs of their students. All of the proceeds of the sale of bracelets will be used to make therapy services more affordable by lowering the rates that Lighthouse charges its clients for its services. Your purchase is not a charitable contribution, but rather is a source of needed revenue for Lighthouse allowing Lighthouse to continue its operations and its efforts to meet its mission.
