Walking by Faith
Lighthouse Therapy is a faith-based, Christian company. Everything from our logo to how we serve students has been based on these beliefs. It is a core part of who we are. That does not mean that having faith is always an easy thing. It is more often one of the harder parts of life. This is especially true where Lighthouse Therapy is concerned.
Starting a company is no simple task, probably one of the biggest reasons more people don’t start their own business. And while Lighthouse Therapy was started on the foundation of Christian faith, it has been no walk in the park. Just when we think everything is going well, we come upon a new hurdle that seems impossible to cross. Our faith has been tested more in this journey than it ever has before.
When I try to understand our struggles, I think of the Israelites during Biblical times. For so many years, they faced struggles that just seemed to never end. Their 400 years of slavery in Egypt, crossing the desert, trying to reach the promised land, it all was a challenge that they could only face with the help of God. Even upon reaching the promised land, they still faced hardships. Many people are recorded in the Bible crying out to God, wondering how He could let those things happen to them.
When we look back on the Israelites, it is easy for us to see how God was moving in their lives. We can say that if they had just been a little more patient, things would have worked out so much better for them. However, we have the gift of knowing how their story ends. Hindsight is always 20/20, we can see the consequences of their actions. It’s not so easy when you are in the middle of the story. You only have the knowledge of what is happening now. There is no knowing how the story will end. But God promises to never abandon us.
This is why I feel our path is similar to the Israelites. They had to trust that God would take care of them no matter the circumstances. We are walking a similar path. We do our best to trust God will take care of us. But our story is nowhere near complete. We can’t see how our struggles will lead to reward. One day, I hope to look back at our path and be able to see how God was with us at the beginning of this journey and providing for our needs the whole time. But that time has not yet arrived. All we can do is prayerfully continue the path God has set us on knowing He is walking with us the entire time.
“No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Joshua 1:5
