Critical shortages of skilled clinicians in school populations are well documented. Recruitment and retention of these clinicians are costly and time-consuming. Schools are required by federal mandates to provide sufficient services to students but fall short due to the scarcity of qualified personnel in their geographic location. These shortages and recruitment costs place a burden on school budgets and add stress to school personnel attempting to fill these positions. Clinicians often have to carry an extra heavy load due to these shortages and that leads to poor job satisfaction and burn out.
Lighthouse Therapy provides online interactive therapy related services for special education students from early intervention – 12th. Our services include Speech-Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Behavioral and Mental Health Services. These services include direct, group, makeup, and consultation services as well as screenings and tests. Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), Occupational Therapists (OTs), Licensed Social Workers (LSWs), School Counselors, Board Certified Behavioral Analysts (BCBA), School Psychologists (School Psychs), and SPED Teachers provide high quality, evidenced-based services on our web-based secure platform, using the latest in online tools and activities.
All services, hours, and required documentation are submitted exclusively through BrightBot (BB). BrightBot serves as Lighthouse’s system of record for therapist service documentation and compensation. Therapists do not need to maintain or submit a separate timesheet or invoice outside of BrightBot for their Lighthouse services.
Lighthouse therapists are paid monthly according to the established monthly payroll schedule. Therapists receive information about the applicable payroll timeline during onboarding.
Absolutely. One of the reasons Lighthouse requires 90 days’ notice when a school ends its contract after the initial 30 days is to give our team time to find another appropriate assignment for the therapist. While we cannot guarantee that another assignment with identical hours, caseload, or compensation will always be immediately available, our goal is to keep great therapists working with Lighthouse and transition them to another school whenever an appropriate opportunity is available.
Our goal is to provide as much stability and continuity as possible. Lighthouse’s 90-day cancellation policy helps reduce the likelihood that a therapist will unexpectedly lose an assignment and the associated income with little or no notice. If circumstances outside the normal cancellation process cause an assignment to end unexpectedly, our team will work with the therapist to identify other available opportunities that match their qualifications, licensure, discipline, and availability.
Lighthouse contracts include protections designed to provide stability for both our therapists and our schools. After the first 30 days of the contract, a school that chooses to end services is required to provide Lighthouse with 90 days’ notice. That notice period gives Lighthouse time to plan for the transition and work toward moving the therapist into another available assignment.
Lighthouse values your time. When you reserve time for a student or school, we recognize that you may not be able to replace that time when a cancellation occurs. Our cancellation policy provides clear guidelines so you know when you will be paid and when you will not be paid. Therapists are paid for student no-shows, late cancellations, and all scheduled sessions canceled on the first day of an unplanned school closure. Advance-notice cancellations, planned school closures, and technology-related cancellations are not paid. Our goal is simple: no guessing and no surprises. We want you to understand how your time is compensated before a cancellation ever happens.
If a school has an unplanned closure, Lighthouse pays the therapist for all scheduled sessions canceled on the first day of the closure. This protects therapists from suddenly losing a full day of expected income because of circumstances outside their control. If the unexpected closure extends beyond the first day, the standard closure policy applies. Planned school closures, such as holidays or breaks already included on the school calendar, are not treated as unexpected cancellations.
Yes, when the school cancels with late notice, the therapist is paid for the full scheduled session time. Lighthouse recognizes that the therapist reserved that time and may not have an opportunity to replace it. Advance-notice cancellations are handled according to Lighthouse’s cancellation policy.
