We’ve got answers.
Yes. When a student is a no-show or there is a late cancellation, the therapist is paid for the full scheduled session time according to Lighthouse’s cancellation policy. The therapist should follow Lighthouse’s required attendance, contact, and documentation procedures for the missed session.
Yes. Lighthouse pays a flat amount for evaluations based on the therapist’s hourly rate, and the entire evaluation process is considered direct time. The flat amount covers setup and preparation, review of records, testing, scoring, interviews, observations, report writing, final review, and completion through the therapist’s signature on the assessment. For example, an SLP or OT evaluation is paid at a flat 5.5 hours at the therapist’s hourly rate.
Yes. Time spent attending an IEP meeting is direct time. IEP planning and writing are considered indirect time under Lighthouse’s 70/30 model.
Yes. Lighthouse uses a 70/30 model: approximately 70% direct time and 30% indirect time. Documentation is compensated as indirect time. We work hard to give therapists the tools, systems, and support to work smarter, not harder, and clear expectations about how and when you are paid are an important part of that.
Lighthouse therapists are 1099 independent contractors and are compensated according to the rate and payment structure associated with their specific assignment. Depending on the assignment, compensation may be based on services provided, hours worked, or another agreed-upon structure. Rates vary by discipline and assignment and are specified in the therapist’s agreement.
We’re happy to discuss students with more involved support needs. During your planning call, we’ll ask about the students’ service requirements and level of need so our team can assess whether Lighthouse is equipped to provide appropriate support. We won’t promise a placement unless we believe we can meet those needs.
Lighthouse works with schools and districts to address special education service needs, including speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. During a planning call, we can discuss the specific services your students need and whether our team can support them.
Yes. If finding an in-person provider has been difficult, Lighthouse can discuss virtual or hybrid services to help address your students’ needs. A hybrid arrangement combines virtual services with on-site visits at a frequency agreed upon before the contract. We’ll work with you to determine which approach fits your school.
Yes. Lighthouse can help take pressure off an existing therapy or special education team when caseloads become difficult to manage. We’ll learn where your team needs additional coverage and explore how our providers can help.
You can reach out even if you need support for just one student. Lighthouse is willing to explore providing services for a single student because every student’s needs matter. We’ll discuss whether we can meet that need during your planning call.
